Spring into Clean: Embracing the Season of Renewal with a Fresh Start at Home

Published on 21 March 2025 at 06:00

As Spring nears, I feel a surge of excitement for a deep cleaning and reorganization. I can’t wait for mornings when I wake up to windows cracked open, birds singing, and new buds beginning to sprout. Spring is a breath of fresh air after the long, gloomy Winter — with its cold temperatures, gray skies, cozy pajamas, and comforting warm drinks. While I do enjoy those things, as someone who loves both autumn and spring, the constant cold and grayness of winter quickly starts to wear on me.

After giving the house a fresh coat of paint last year, there are no cracks or touch-ups needed. So now, phase two begins. My Spring-cleaning routine includes:

  • Moving large furniture to sweep, dust, and mop
  • Washing woodwork
  • Reorganizing the basement (much needed after all the Halloween and Christmas decoration bins)
  • Bringing forward the Spring and Summer bins
  • Sweeping the garage and organizing shelves
  • Carpet and drape cleaning
  • A/C seasonal service
  • Trimming indoor plants and providing extra nourishment for growth (although my green babies get year-round love)
  • Pulling out Spring and Summer clothes
    • Setting aside items I didn’t wear the previous year
    • Setting aside clothes that no longer fit
    • Setting aside pieces that no longer suit my style
    • Starting a donation bin
    • Doing the same with footwear
  • Purchasing fresh mulch
  • Adorning the front door with something to welcome the season

As the days get longer and the warmth of Spring fills the air, it’s the perfect time to refresh both your home and your mindset. Whether you’re reorganizing, cleaning, or simply soaking in the beauty of the season, these little changes can have a big impact on how you feel. So take a moment to breathe, enjoy the journey, and let Spring’s renewal inspire a fresh start. Happy Spring cleaning!
