What I Read, What I Learned & What Stayed With Me

Sometimes a change doesn't happen because something is wrong.

Sometimes you simply realize you've outgrown the way you've been doing something.

That's where I am with this blog.

For a while, my blog has been a little bit of this and a little bit of that. I've written about work, life, professional experiences, personal growth, things I've learned, things I've wondered about—and whatever happened to be on my mind at the time.

And honestly? I don't regret that.

Those posts reflect different seasons, interests, experiences, and conversations I've had along the way. They are part of the story of this website.

But lately, I've been thinking about what I actually enjoy writing about.

And one thing kept coming back to me:

Books.

Not just reviewing them.

Not giving every book a star rating.

Not trying to convince you that you should—or shouldn't—read something.

I'm interested in what happens after the reading.

What did I learn?

What did the book make me think about?

Did something surprise me?

Did it challenge something I already believed?

Did I find myself thinking about a particular idea days later?

Did I simply have fun reading it?

Or maybe a book wasn't life-changing at all. Maybe it was just a good story that gave me a few enjoyable hours.

That counts, too.

So, welcome to the new direction of my blog:

What I Read, What I Learned & What Stayed With Me

It's a title that feels much more like what I actually want this space to be.

I read all kinds of things.

My reading isn't neatly contained in one genre.

Sometimes I'm in the mood for fiction. Sometimes something suspenseful. Sometimes something thought-provoking. Sometimes personal development, professional topics, history, or something completely different.

And that's intentional.

I don't want to create a reading space where you have to like the same kinds of books I do.

Instead, I want to share what I found interesting about what I read.

Maybe you'll discover a book you want to add to your own list.

Maybe you'll recognize one you've already read and think, "I had a completely different reaction to that!"

Maybe you'll disagree with me.

That's okay.

Actually, I think that's part of the fun.

Because reading is personal.

Two people can read the exact same book and walk away with completely different experiences.

One person may love the characters while another can't stand them.

One person may find a message inspiring while another finds it frustrating.

One reader may remember the plot.

Another may forget the details but remember one sentence, one idea, or one feeling years later.

And sometimes, a book doesn't teach us something brand new.

Sometimes it simply puts words around something we already knew but hadn't quite figured out how to say.

Those are the things I'm interested in exploring here.

What stayed with me.

So why the change?

I realized I didn't want to keep writing blog posts simply because I felt like I should have a blog.

I wanted the blog to have a little more intention behind it.

The random posts had their place. They allowed me to experiment, share thoughts, and write about whatever was relevant at the time.

But over time, that can make a blog feel a little scattered.

And I wanted this space to feel more connected.

More like a conversation.

More like sitting down with someone and saying:

"I just finished this book, and here's what I've been thinking about."

That's much more natural for me.

And it gives me room to do something I really enjoy—connect what I'm reading to real life.

Because sometimes the most interesting part of a book isn't the book itself.

It's the conversation it starts in your head.

It's the question you find yourself asking.

It's the memory it brings back.

It's the perspective it gives you.

It's the thing you notice differently afterward.

This isn't goodbye to everything that came before.

I'm not erasing the older posts or pretending they didn't happen.

They're still part of this website—and part of my journey.

But moving forward, I want this blog to have a clearer personality.

A place where I can talk about the books I'm reading, what I'm learning from them, and the thoughts that linger after I've turned the last page.

Some posts may be thoughtful.

Some may be educational.

Some may simply be about enjoying a really good story.

And some might make you stop and think about something in your own life.

That's the hope.

Because I don't believe every book needs to change your life.

Sometimes it just needs to make you laugh.

Sometimes it needs to teach you something.

Sometimes it needs to give you an escape.

And sometimes, long after you've finished it, you realize that something from those pages quietly followed you into your everyday life.

Those are the books I want to talk about.

And those are the conversations I want to have here.

So if you're a reader—or even if you're someone who wants to read more but never seems to find the time—welcome.

Pull up a chair.

Bring your reading list.

Bring your opinions.

Bring the books you loved, the books you couldn't finish, and the books you still think about years later.

I'll bring mine.

And we'll see where the next page takes us.

Welcome to What I Read, What I Learned & What Stayed With Me.
