Each June, Pride Month brings people together to celebrate and honor the LGBTQ+ community while advocating for equality. What began as a protest for rights and acceptance in the 1960s has evolved into a global month-long celebration of love, diversity, and progress.
Pride Month traces its origins to the 1969 Stonewall Riots in New York City, when members of the LGBTQ+ community resisted police discrimination. This pivotal event ignited a movement that continues to inspire and remind us of the ongoing struggle for equality. Visibility and unity are key as we continue to fight for justice. Throughout June, parades, rallies, and festivals are held worldwide, with individuals proudly displaying rainbow flags and symbols of solidarity. For allies, it's a chance to stand with loved ones and push for equal rights for all.
Pride Month is also an opportunity to reflect on both the progress made and the work still ahead in creating a world where love and identity are embraced without question. Personally, I believe Pride is for everyone, not just the LGBTQ+ community. It's a time to stand up for love, celebrate diversity, and support one another, no matter our differences.
The LGBTQ+ community has overcome immense challenges, and Pride Month serves as a reminder of their resilience and strength. It’s not just about the celebrations—it’s about creating inclusive spaces where all voices can be heard and respected.
Supporting Pride goes beyond participating in events or sharing symbols on social media. It requires actively understanding the experiences of others, advocating for equal rights, and challenging the discrimination that persists worldwide. As allies, we can drive meaningful change by listening, learning, and standing up for justice.
Let’s all contribute to building a more inclusive, loving, and accepting world, because Pride belongs to everyone. Together, we can create a future where each individual can live authentically, without apology, and with freedom.

What an informative piece, thank you kindly. As an allie true to heart, I'm quite embarrassed to say, I was ignorant to the historical importance of the NYC Stonewall Riots.
Fast forward to today's current environment ... the fight for unity, equality, diversity and inclusion remains at the forefront of society.
While there is more work to do, at best, the ongoing hope for progress continues. How beautiful it would be to live freely sans judgement or discrimination, in spite of our differences. May the day present itself, soon enough.
