National Park and Recreation Month—Are You Getting Outside?

Published on 25 July 2025 at 06:30

I hope you’ve had a chance to get out and enjoy some fresh air, green spaces, and maybe even a little sunshine. Whether it’s a walk through your local park, a family picnic, or just sitting by the water and listening to the sounds of nature—this month is all about slowing down and soaking it all in.

I’ve always believed parks are more than just places to go—they’re where we recharge, connect, and create memories. For me, there’s something special about being outside that helps me clear my head and feel grounded again.

If you haven’t had a chance to celebrate yet, don’t worry—there’s still plenty of month left. Take a walk after dinner, grab lunch outside, or visit a park you haven’t been to in a while. If you’ve got kids or grandkids, bring them along—it’s amazing how much fun they can have with just a stick and a patch of dirt!

I’ve been trying to be more intentional about getting outside this month, even if it’s just for a few minutes during a busy day. It really does make a difference.

National Park and Recreation Month might only come once a year, but the benefits of getting outside are always in season. So, here's your friendly mid-month nudge: take the long way home, pack up a quick snack, and go find a spot with some trees and a little sky. Your mind and body will thank you.

See you out there 🌳☀️
